Dinesh Kumar Prabhakar
Dinesh Kumar Prabhakar was born on 3rd June, 1950 into a family of great musicians. At the age of 8, he began his early training in music from his father, Late Pandit Husan Lal, a renowned Violinist, Vocalist and Music Director in Indian Film Industry.

The whole world knew of his natural talent and appreciated the efforts he took to become the very best in his field. After his father’s demise, Dinesh Kumar Prabhakar received Scholarship from the Government of India for advance training in music and completed his training under the illustrious Guru Late Pt. Dilip Chandra Vedi.

 

One of the first highlights of his Career was when Mr. Prabhakar received the prestigious All India Radio Award for the best Violinist in India, at the age of 18.

 

Over the years his performance expanded in repertoire to include music composition and is credited with a number of musical performances in India and internationally. One cannot help but recall his tuneful renderings of memorable notes in Japan, Singapore, Bangkok and back home at Vishnu Digamber Jayanti – Delhi, Hariballabh Sangeet Sammelan – Jalandhar -Punjab, Holi Festival – Amritsar, Basant Festival – Hoshiarpur and Tansen Sangeet Samaroh – Delhi, etc. As his fame as a renowned artiste grew, D.K. Prabhakar gradually became a staple in the world of music, as once his father was.

 

In his 40+ Years of experience, Dinesh Kumar Prabhakar rendered his services for 16 years to All India Radio Delhi. He composed number of songs, orchestral compositions, musical features and received Five Akashvani Annual Awards in a row for composing musical features.

 

 

 

He was invited by U.S.S.R. Embassy, Department of Culture to compose and conduct orchestral compositions in a music concert held to mark the visit of Indian ex-Prime Minister, Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi to U.S.S.R.

The song “WE ARE NATIONS OF COMMONWEALTH” composed by him and sung by Shri A. Hariharan was adjudged second in Asian Region by the Commonwealth Foundation U.K. in 1993.


He has held the post of “DIRECTOR OF MUSIC” in Films Division, Govt. of India for 19 years. During that period he has composed and directed music for more than 300 Documentaries, News magazines and Animation films. Many of those films got National and International Awards.

In 2010 he represented Films Division for receiving Prestigious National Awards for the Film “The Assassination of Rajiv Gandhi” for which Music was given by him.


He has composed songs with topmost playback singers like, Asha Bhonsle, Anurada Paudwal , Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Bhupinder Singh, Sadhna Sargam, Sudesh Bhosle, Sonu Nigam, Anup Jalota A.Hariharan etc for Documentaries & Featurettes.

“Noori Pukar” an album of Bhajans written by Dada Vaswani was composed by him.

He has also Directed documentary films “Naushad A Musical Journey”, “Shat Shat Pranam”, “Ustad Bismillah Khan”, 11 episodes of “Communal Harmony songs”, “Eye of Friendship”, “Moments with Maestros”.


Over the years, Mr. D.K.Prabhakar wanted to expand Classical music training internationally and is now the Director of “Naad – Rang” Music School in New York, USA. Through the School he is now able to mentor several young aspiring artists and guide them to achieve the same success as him.
